Pacquiao vs Mosley: Manny Pacquiao will knockout Shane Mosley within 7 rounds next month

Legendary prizefighter Manny “Pac-Man” Pacquiao will fight former three-division champion “Sugar” Shane Mosley on May 7 at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas.

Strictly due to his name recognition, Mosley (46-6-1-1, 39 KOs) was unjustly selected as the opponent for Pacquiao (52-3-2, 38 KOs) over more-qualified boxers like lightweight champion Juan Manuel Marquez (52-5-1, 38 KOs) and welterweight titlist Andre Berto (27-0, 21 KOs).

Pacquiao's trainer, Freddie Roach, 50, a native of Dedham who has been honored on four occasions as the Trainer of the Year by the Boxing Writers Association of America, said he would have prefered to “shut Marquez up.”

According to Pacquiao promoter Bob Arum, undefeated clown pocket Floyd Mayweather (41-0, 25 KOs) was not an option because he again cowered and hid from a potentially lucrative bout versus “Pac-Man.”

“We put it off as long as we could,” said Arum, himself a corruptible weasel who acknowledged during a 2000 federal trial that he bribed the International Boxing Federation (IBF) to attain a higher ranking for one of his scrappers.

“He has been totally incommunicado. All he had to do was pick up a phone and say, ‘Hey Bob, wait a week, two weeks’ and we would have waited. He could have given us a signal. No one knows how to get a hold of him. The only ones who know how to get a hold of him are the police.”

Mayweather, an enormous talent who has captured nine world titles in five different boxing weight classes, currently has a defamation lawsuit filed against him by “Pac-Man” and two new impending court dates for more violent incidents he has been accused of committing.

Pacquiao vs Mosley: It Will Be Easy To Exploit Pacquiao's Flaws - Mosley

A student of the game, former three division champion Shane Mosley told BoxingScene.com earlier this week that he watched quite a few of Manny Pacquiao's previous fights. And, like other boxers, he has noticed discrepancies in Pacquiao's style. Mosley faces Pacquiao for the WBO welterweight tite on May 7 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

"We all have flaws, but are we able to capitalize on those flaws?" Mosley said to BoxingScene. "With Pacquiao, he throws so many punches, he fights with so much fury. But I think I will be able to exploit them. I think it's my speed, the power, even my size, will make it easy to get to those spots.

"He moves his feet very well and that can make it very difficult to exploit his flaws. He is a phenomenal fighter. I have much respect for him and this is a great challenge for me to prove I'm one of the best out there."

Mosley, speaking via telephone, said the people from Fight Camp 360 were at his camp Wednesday. And by the way, that gorgeous woman shown with Mosley in this past Saturday's first episode, is his new love, model Bella Gonzalez.

No wonder Mosley is in such a good mood these days.

PACQUIAO: Well I consider this one of my toughest opponents because Mosley is not that slow. He can move fast and he has good hand speed and foot speed and he’s a former pound-for-pound so I never underestimate Mosley.

Pacquiao vs Mosley: Alex Ariza on Manny Pacquiao's Training For Shane Mosley

From BoxingScene.com:

BoxingScene.com caught up to strength trainer, Alex Ariza, who has just returned from Baguio City, Philippines, where he and five-time Trainer of The Year, Freddie Roach, were working with eight-division titlist Manny Pacquiao, in preparation for the May 7 defense of his WBO welterweight belt against Shane Mosley  at the MGM Grand Hotel in Las Vegas.

Ariza will be in his seventh fight working with the 32-year-old Pacquiao (52-3-2, 38 knockouts), who will be after his 14th straight victory and his ninth stoppage during that run when he meets the 39-year-old, three-division, five-time champion, Mosley (46-6-1, 39 KOs).

Pacquiao is coming off of November's unanimous decision ex-titlist, Antonio Margarito (38-7, 27 KOs), which earned him the WBC's junior middleweight belt, which Pacquiao has since relinquished.
Prior to that, Ariza was first with Pacquiao when the Filipino super star debuted with a lightweight, ninth-round stoppage of David Diaz for that division's WBC crown in June of 2008, his December, 2008, welterweight debut that was an eighth-round knockout of Oscar De La Hoya , and, a May, 2009, second-round stoppage of England's Ricky Hatton for the IBO junior welterweight trinket.

Pacquiao then dethroned WBO champ, Miguel Cotto  (36-2, 29 KOs) with a November, 2009, 12th-round knockout, and decisioned ex-champion, Joshua Clottey (35-4, 20 KOs) in the March, 2009, first defense of that title before defeating Margarito.

BoxingScene.com spoke to Ariza to discuss Pacquiao's strength training for Mosley in this Q&A.  Read More
